[WXBH-Discuss] kristin's input to our community

Yeah... isolating myself has never been my intention... i simple get overrun with responsibility when single minded collectives do not contribute time or energy to the community as it is currently growing with each event. tabling each event as outreach and providing clear access and opportunity for involvement is something that each collective will directly benefit from as well as the entire organization... if i risk isolating myself by asking for participation by collectives to become accessible to the community then i ask for the sake of success within all our actions... i ask for meeting times to be written down so anyone who walks in the brick house can partake of both the benefits and active growth

Lets not lead ourselves back to dismissing the basic ideas of community, accessibility and mutually beneficial dialogue which is what occurred tonight when over half of the 40 or so people in the building had never been there before decided to stay for the full 2 hours and hold conversations with people from around the world, dance in circles of 30 or so strangers, sing together and learn more about how to support those who work to end hate.

We will be getting new volunteers to work in and on the building during open studio time, new additions to most of our mailing lists and an entire class has been formed of qi gong students who will have to pay nothing as a part of our expanding weekly programming.

I believe in this organization for all the right reasons and have stuck with it through thick and thin for over 7 years now and its clear to me how important actually being at events and learning to work together really is to this organization. I encourage anyone and everyone to come to the Sustainability Fair this Saturday from 10am to 6pm not as a casual visitor but as an organized group of presenters ready to distro our products for financial support while outreaching into one of the most progressive communities in currently commited to social change and long term wellbeing locally and globally...

Can I count on anyone to relieve our workers at the booth at noon or at 2pm?? We could use a strong and unified presence there as well as amongst ourselves... it could be a great way to spend the day moving towards common goals as communities and individually represented collectives. Please call 589-4978 and sign up to take a shift at our booth located at the Clifton Unitarian Church just off Frankfort Avenue this Saturday. We especially need someone to close down the booth and drive it back home since my shift at the center starts at 3pm and Christina will have to leave for work then as well.

My apologies to those who might have not related to what I felt could no longer be ignored.

Sorry Everyone, I had hit reply all yesterday and thought this went to
everyone.

Since I wrote this before the meeting, I just want to add that after
attending the meeting I feel even better about a genuine warming of
relations between 'Brick House people' and 'radio people', and the
possibility that these distinctions will fade more over time. I had been
'optimistic' that this would develop. But this warming of relations is
happening now.

Kristin herself actually said to me that there are members of political and
social groups in the community that would meet at the Brick House, but don't
feel comfortable coming into a divisive situation. I echo Matt's email, that
we are now moving past that. Good things are already happening and
developing at the Brick House. And the community is coming together.

I want to mention that I have solid 'Brick House people' credentials, as do
John and Matt - and the overall tone of our emails is unitary, not devisive.
If Kristin continues handling her concerns in an unprofessional and
unproductive manner, all she will succeed in doing is isolating herself. I
hope she can see this, but that is up to her.

The Brick House is here to stay and we are moving forward in grappling with,
reflecting on and resolving our problems.

Lastly don't forget:

The Sacred Tour of the Tibetan Deprong Gomang Monestary Monks
Tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 (See attached flyer.)

I think we could all use some of what they have to offer here. (Kristin did
a service here in organizing this.)

David--

Very well put. (But my copy was addressed only to me. I hope you sent it to
others as well.)
