Time is short and Forecastle is right down the road.

WXBH is going to use this as an opportunity to make a loud local presence
and by default this is going to be to be our real “Kick Off” event to let
everyone know that we are out here and ready to be listened to.

I’ve been working with JK (Forecastle organizer) and Ohio Valley Creative
Energy http://www.ohiovalleycreativenergy.org/ (OVCE) on a concept to set up
a WXBH recording studio at Forecastle on the Belvedere, allowing Forecastle
attendees to DJ and speak about whatever they like, live on the air. We will
be setting up a wireless network, streaming to the world and feeding our
content straight to Fern Creek to broadcast live on the air. JK is very
excited about this possibility to have the festival on the internet and on
air.

A preliminary concept drawing (open to change) can be seen at my website:
http://www.hallieandaron.com/forecastle/forecastle.htm

For background… OVCE is a group of Louisville artists that are working to
build an art-making (glass, metal, ceramics) facility in Southern Indiana on
a landfill that runs off of methane gas. Seeing that both local grassroots
media and alternative fuel use are elements of sustainable development it
made sense to team up at Forecastle. A large geodesic dome is going to be
constructed by OVCE volunteers and we will share this space, out of the sun,
with them for the two days on the Belvedere. They will blow glass all day
and we will make local radio happen.

For this event WXBH will need:

***To conceptualize a message and design signage that explains how important
Community Radio is.

***To create a one-page handout with instructions on how to interview
someone (with FCC cussing guidelines), including several leading questions
that could be asked of the activist organizations at Forecastle.

***Volunteers to find volunteers to interview the activist organizations,
asking them to talk about what it is that they do.

***People to work around the booth and hand out brochures, program proposals
and to discuss WXBH’s mission to our community.

***A mobile studio to setup downtown. (I can likely provide 90% of this)

***A local business sponsor (underwriter?) to help pay for equipment,
printing etc. for this WXBH project (if you find this person/ business you
get a million cool points)

***Other stuff not yet thought of…

First off, I must say that I obviously can’t do this myself and need
several other individuals to step up and help make this thing amazing. I
will be gone for a week from July 18th to the 25th (bad timing I know), so
getting a lot of the legwork done for this is gonna have to be done as a
TEAM. So the question is, "Can we pull this together and make it a HUGE
SUCCESS?"

I would like to have a meet at 5:00, this Thursday, at the Atomic Saucer on
Oak and
Swan Streets with all those interested in participating and volunteering for
this event.
Can anyone make it?

Anyone have ideas to contribute and discuss right now...?

This'll be really amazing, if we really put our hearts into it.

-Aron

If you are interested in working on a committee for this event, please let
me know. We have a lot of work to do by July 27th and 28th. Thanks!
