WXBH Meeting Minutes 05-23-06

Present:  Bob Peck, Mark McKinley, John Hicks, Aron Conaway, Kristen Shelor

Reading, corrections and approval of previous weeks minutes


Financial Report:

We need to look at Bellsouth Bill to see about paying it off.

Tentative meeting with Jamie Miller, John Wilborn, John Hicks and Aron 
Conaway to go to the Stock Yards 	Bank and change hands to Aron, John and 
John to all be signers for the Checks.

Aron proposed and passed around a new form to be kept weekly called 
Financial Report. It will serve to record incoming monies and expenses for 
the radio station. Each week a copy of this form will be turned into to 
minutes notebook.

John Hicks wanted to get a fix on monthly expenses for the Brick house 
monthly:
Kristen reported that approximate costs are; Mortgage $799, Insurance $170, 
LG&E $90, Phone MCI $51, Bellsouth $50?, ADT Security Alarm $63, water $25, 
= $1268-$1,400 mo.

There was a motion to require that all expense payments be approved by a 
majority vote. Motion was passed.

Kristen proposed motion to close out Bellsouth account. It was decided to 
see what is cheaper, to keep account and pay it off and then start paying 
again when it is needed or to start a whole new account. John H. is doing 
research.

June 3rd there is an insurance bill. It was proposed by Kristen that the 
Radio Collective pay the $170 for the Brick House.


Fundraising Committee Report:
Discussion about what we do to get our needed funding. We need to do to get 
our business plan together.

Outreach Committee:
Bob Peck has offered his skills and resources for editing and duplication of 
formal WXBH Presentations to be put on disc and given for fundraising 
efforts.

Pete has taken the benefit CDs to Ear X-tacy to sell. Ear X-tacy getting $2 
on the $8 sale of the new cd and $7 for the old(is this right?) Expression 
of concern about charging different prices.

Discussion of whether or not to include the environmental controls in the 
budget for the Gheens Foundation Grant. Aron is going to contact Kevin 
Connelly at the Center for Non-profit Excellence for advice.

We need to talk to Prometheus about doing a barn-raising for WXBH and 
securing a date.

John H. is pulling together an annual report/ statement to document the 
progress of the Brick House and the Radio Project. It will be given to the 
Radio Advisory Board as an introduction to bring them up to speed with the 
project. Soon a follow up letter asking for help will be sent.

Discussion of timeline for approaching the Advisory Board
1.	Educate them’
2.	Teel them our problems/ what we need Antenna and Move
3.	What we want them to do as the advisory board. (we need to empower them)

Kristen expressed interest in making a newsletter with the Ky Alliance and 
WXBH and others.

Aron showed new information brochure that he has been designing.

Kristen showed idea to put a contribution list on a brochure

Programming: Kim Sorise has expressed interest in Volunteer training in 
broadcast and program production. Need to start looking for programming to 
put on the streaming radio station Podcasters, Musicians, DJs, 
organizations, etc. for local radio content.

It costs $270 for Pacifica Affiliation, allowing station to broadcast many 
of their shows

Getting a Streaming station for WXBH as soon as possible is important.
