Okay, yes, I realized that I forgot to change the subject. So to those who
are reading this for the third time, apologies....
In general , if there is a time that someone wants to get into the Brick
House to do work and Kristen is not available, I am more that happy to meet
anyone there to let 'em in and help out with whatever, as long as I am
available at the time.
As far as volunteer/ governance manuals, I am interested in working on these
as well. I don't know if we can get too far into the writing of them without
some consensus from the group about how we will govern the station. But, of
course, writing them will bring up these issues and we can make the
necessary steps to make such decisions as each issue arises. A computer in
the Radio office will be important to start hammering them out. Corey, when
can we work together on getting that computer going?
Also, Stephen George and I had a long phone conversation yesterday and I
brought him up to speed on our status. We agreed that our best bet is going
to be to set our launch story for the streaming date (We, as a group need to
discuss this issue as to when we should break the story). LEO is really
behind us bigtime and they are interested in having a show, so that can be
really big for us and them. I am investigating an ad/announcement similar to
the old Kentucky Theater Project's old full page gig. It may cost a little,
it may not, we'll see. It would do us a lot of good.
I think that maybe we should consider using Forecastle as a streaming
kickoff milestone, July 28-29th (at the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment
Center, with openning ceremonies/events in other venues). There we can make
the announcment that we are on the web and inform the bands, artists and
activists there that we are alive, well, and accepting show proposals/ show
pilot proposals that we can stream. Then we can guage response and get
feedback. We already have confirmation that we will be able to have a table
with the sponsors of the festival for free (we will need to staff this for
both days too). Look at the Festival.... http://www.forecastlefest.com/
Also we all need to keep asking everyone we know if they want to have a
pilot show to broadcast on the stream for the first few weeks. A brochure
announcement, a myspace profile and an email blast ought to be launched to
explain the status of the station and ask for content/ financial
contributions.
I'll bring the brochures down early on Sat. if possible. Or I'll bring 'em
on Saturday at 4:00pm when my shift starts.
Peace, Aron
