Since Aron chose to send this to the entire wxbh-discuss list and since
most of you were not present at Thursday's directors meeting, a little
background may be in order:

The main item of business was the appointment of committees within the
board of directors. These are not meant to be standing committees but
merely committees to allow the board to get some pressing work done in
an efficient manner. Those committees are:

--Physical facilities - to assess the condition of the building and the
policy and procedures for managing the building

--Collectives - to assess the state of the collectives, their nature,
their strength and viability

--Public information/public relations/marketing - to ensure that the BH
is presented to the world in a consistent, realistic, and positive manner.

--Finance and insurance - to ensure that we are conducting business in a
legal and responsible manner.

Aron was appointed to the finance committee at our treasurer John
Wilborn's request. I imagine John felt that would be a way of being
doubly sure that radio would have sufficient control and oversight of
its funds.

Perhaps Aron should also have been on the PR/marketing committee, but we
were following an ad hoc principle that each director would serve on
only one committee and he was not there to express his preference.

Aron is correct that he and I have a disagreement regarding the wxbh.org
website. The issue concerns whether we should continue to use a content
management system to update the content (which I favor) or revert to
using plain HTML (which Aron favors). I favor using a CMS because it
enables ordinary people to contribute content to the site without having
to know HTML.

Finally, the executive committee that Aron mentions has always been a
part of the Brick House bylaws (and is a feature of most non-profit
organizations). It consists of the four officers. We four met last
Sunday to prepare the agenda for Thursday's board meeting. (That's where
we devised the list of committees.)

I hope that clarifies things a bit. Please feel free to post any
questions or observations.

John Hicks
Co-Chair, Brycc House, Inc.

P.S. Unfortunately, Mark McKinley, our other co-chair, was leaving town
for the weekend just as Aron made his post. I spoke with Mark by phone
and read him Aron's post. He is without Internet access until he gets
back, so he will catch up with the list at that point.
