Some of you may be interested in attending the "grand opening" open
house for our sister station, Fern Creek High School's WFHS-LP. It will
be tomorrow (Tuesday) from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the high school, 9115
Fern Creek Road (within sight of Bardstown Road).

As most of you know, the FCC granted LPFM licenses for the 92.7 mHz
frequency to both FCHS (actually, to the school's Alumni Association)
and to the Brick House, requiring us to work out some kind of time
sharing arrangement. After much deliberation on the part of both
parties, we are currently finalizing an agreement with Fern Creek to use
their transmitter and antenna and to broadcast at night and on weekends
(and during their vacation times). The two stations working together
will be bringing the community of Fern Creek (and Southeast Jefferson
County) a full time community-based station.

Fern Creek High is a great partner to have because it is the magnet
school for media and mass communications. They already have a TV
broadcast program in their curriculum and are now adding a radio
program. This is wonderful enabling, empowering technology that they are
teaching about!! Think of the many ways we can be working together.

So if you're interested in working with WXBH, you'll want to get to know
Fern Creek. And the Open House may be a way to start doing that!

[Note: Unfortunately we won't be sharing Fern Creek's studio, only their
transmitter and antenna, so don't get too excited about all the
equipment they'll be showing off :) We both felt that there might be
some initial apprehension about having a motley assortment of the public
(that's us) being present on school property after hours. In the future,
after we establish a history of stability, mutual trust etc., we may
very well be able to work out a way to share studios. But, to begin
with, we are planning on setting up our own remote studio facilities and
uploading the signal to the transmitter via Internet or dataline.]

We hope to have some more news about WXBH soon. But in the meantime I
thought some of you would be interested in checking out the Fern Creek
station tomorrow night.

Cheers,
