[WXBH-Discuss] AgreementwithFern Creek

My two cents...
I don't think that it is really a fair shake to give the station to WXBH
during the 8 hours that 95% of the listeners will be sleeping. This does not
give the driving crowd in both AM and PM any decent news and really limits
us completely. I think that alternating days or finding a different block of
hours is preferential.
How about on Weekdays, FCHS 10:00am-5:00pm (they could pre-record the 3 1/2
hours of afterschool programs in the early morning hours of class), with
reserved time for scheduled extra-curricular activities that go after 5:00.
Then from 1:00am until school starts (8-ish?) we could either rebroadcast
the kids stuff or they could prerecord for that slot as well.
I think that the kids would benefit from hearing WXBH's "other people in the
community", and other kids etc. and their shows in the late afternoon/
evening, after 5:00pm. I think that "adult programming" is a bit too far
departed from the original-yet-redefined "youth" focus that the BR"Y"CC
house originally had.
The weekend could be open for fern creekers to submit shows or we can
rebroadcast the students shows again as well as doing WXBH shows.
This is a sketchy description, but I think the idea is here. I don't think
we should short ourselves and the quality that we have to offer. They will
be in their neighborhood, and are automatically getting a lot out of that
(not having to have dead air 1/2 the time). Then getting 8 years will also
certainly benefit them.
And I don't think we could go from antenna to antenna alternately by days
(WXBH, FCHS, WXBH...) because of the required 8 hours local and 12-hour
broadcast minimum a day on each station. Maybe that can be bent with the
FCC, but thats just something to take note of.
