The Radio group met at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at the Brick
House. Present were Mark McKinley, Cory Riley, Brian Manley, Jason
Mononukeliois, and John Hicks.
G.R.C REPORT - Mark McKinley and John Hicks presented a brief report of
their trip to the Grassroots Radio Conference in Madison, Wisconsin,
July 28-30. They reported that most LPFMers at the conference
recommended that we:
--avoid saddling ourselves with a large monthly payment for antenna
location if at all possible
--give priority to going on the air, even with less than optimal
location and power, because once on the air we can file for further
location changes.
BROADCAST EXPENSES. We agreed to proceed immediately to assemble the
components needed for our antenna/transmitter system. We also agreed to
proceed immediately to start streaming. We authorized expenditures for
antenna/transmitter related expenses, streaming related expenses, and
possibly some studio equipment. Moved and seconded by Brian and Cory.
Passed unanimously.
ANTENNA LOCATION. We agreed to search for alternative antenna locations
within the 5.6 km radius of our current coordinates. We agreed it would
be preferable to move west toward St. Matthews (but no further west than
Hubbards Lane) and that we should try to avoid moving very far south.
[If you know anyone who lives in Norbourne Estates or Beechwood Village
or has a business along Shelbyville Road between Hubbards Lane and the
Watterson Expressway, let us know ASAP.]
MEETING SCHEDULE. We agreed to change our meeting schedule from weekly
to monthly and to attempt to get more work done in small groups,
committees, or individually.
The meeting adjourned at 7:38 p.m.
